McMann suggested Rosa reach out to Boone County Commissioner Justin Aldred as well with her concerns.īased on where Rosa's property is located on Southfield Drive, a tree line will be maintained along the backside of her property. Rosa is also concerned about the connection to Easter Lane due to the street's width and likely pathway between two properties. Highfield Acres resident Sharon Rosa and Sunrise Estates resident Shelly Nail's chief concerns regarding the development were what would happen to tree lines separating the properties. Cul de sac plans in the development also meet fire codes, Smith said, answering a question from commission member Mike McMann. The stubouts would have space for temporary turnarounds, such as for emergency vehicles.
Approximately three roads would end in stubouts, which would be able to connect into future developments, if they happen. Negotiations are still happening with the county regarding a connection into the development from Highfield Acres at Easter Lane. Other road connections would lead into Sunrise Estates and Highfield Acres, which are county developments. Construction of the roundabout would not happen until it is needed. The city also recommends a contribution for intersection improvements for a roundabout at Richland Road and Grace Lane/Rolling Hills Road to the west of the development, to which the developer has agreed, said Tim Crockett with Crockett Engineering. The traffic study indicated a turn lane at this entrance is not warranted, said Clint Smith, senior planner for Columbia's community development division, answering a question from Peggy Placier, commission member. The second entrance roughly halfway between Kinderlou and Olivet does not have a left-hand turn lane planned at this time. There will be two connections into the development off of Richland, including one at Kinderlou with a left-hand turn lane based on the results of a traffic study. Space is dedicated for the potential future development of a roundabout at Olivet and Richland.Īnother street planned in the development known both as Cherry Creek Drive and Kinderlou Drive will connect to Richland Road. A sidepath for bikes and pedestrians also is planned for the west side of Olivet and would connect to the North Grindstone Creek trail. Under the plan, the intersection of Olivet and Richland would shift roughly 110 feet west of the property line, so the Olivet extension does not go through Sunrise Estates properties. An extension of Olivet Road north is part of the new development within city boundaries.
